I'm going through a rebuild at work, and it looks like the new video patch panels I want are going to be significantly delayed. But I have some older Trompeter patch panels with the HDVDPMT jacks installed that I got from another facility. When I look up the jack, the datasheet says rated to 2.5Ghz and our goal is 1080/60p, currently 1080i. Is this going to be good enough?
Runs are all short enough that it may not matter, most are around 20-25 feet. And I may have an issue with my DA's, they are BlackMagic Opengear cards and I seem to recall there was some issue trying to push them at 3Ghz, so I might be stuck down at 2.5Ghz anyway.
Trying to get everything rewired so that if/when the new equipment arrives, it's a quicker install. Going from a 26 wide to a 32 wide panel, about 9 panels worth that need to be moved/added.
Adding BMD Atem 40x switcher (replacing old Carbonite) and a nicer 32x4 multiviewer, also finishing putting all the connections to our 64x64 router on the panels. Yes I know, the BMD Atem has all 4 multiviewer outputs that I need, the quality is just not there. All portions of the BMD MV are soft, hard to make sure cameras are in focus. We originally were going to just use the BMD MV, but finally decided to add back in the "better" dedicated MV to hopefully have a crisper image. I am going to keep the BMD MV outputs on the router so I can send them anywhere, maybe we need them, maybe we don't. The cost difference of going down to a 20 input 3g switcher frame is so small that I might as well keep the 40 input 4 me frame. We are skimping on the control panel and only using the 20 button 2 me, BMD says it will work fine and it is substantially less than the 40 button 4 me control panel.
