I built a complete Arabic language learning platform by myself over the past months while working a full-time engineering job. The product is genuinely good — it combines 1-on-1 lessons with certified native teachers and an AI that joins every session, analyzes pronunciation, generates post-lesson reports, flashcards, quizzes, radar charts tracking fluency progress. It's not a side project anymore, it's a real platform.
Two trial students have completed the experience. Both loved it. Neither converted to paying yet — one cited pricing (she wanted a family plan I don't have yet), the other went quiet after the trial.
I've burned about $300 on Meta and Google ads. Got clicks, zero conversions. Paused ads. I've been doing manual B2B LinkedIn outreach to expat professionals at GIZ, USAID, and international orgs in Amman. Two warm leads from Facebook groups. No money in yet.
Here's what I'm struggling with: I know the product works. I've taught Arabic for 5+ years and I built everything the students actually need. But I'm stuck in this limbo where the product is done, the feedback is positive, and still — zero paying students.
For those who've been here: what actually broke the seal for you?
- Was it a specific type of outreach?
- Did you have to drastically change who you were targeting?
- Did you personally reach out to people you knew, even if it felt uncomfortable?
- Was there a moment where something just clicked, or was it a slow grind?
Not looking for "keep going" encouragement — I'm already committed. I want to know the specific thing that moved you from validated-but-broke to first-dollar-in.
