Cross posting to seek career advices. Okay lang ba mag resign agad kahit kaka-1month palang sa work?
Hello po! I just wanted to ask for advice, especially from recent CAAP CATS passers. Worth it ba talagang i-pursue yung training kahit unpaid for 6 months? Kumusta naman life after training? Okay ba yung compensation after ng training?
For context, I’m currently a candidate for CATS Batch 21 and waiting na lang for the medical results. During my medical, the doctor mentioned that everything looked okay and advised me to just wait for the official announcement from CAAP. Because of that, I’m already expecting positive news.
Right now, I’m torn between pursuing the training or staying in my current job. I recently resigned from my first aviation job after 5 months, and ngayon nasa second aviation job na ako (1 month pa lang). The compensation and salary are decent naman, but I honestly don’t see much career growth in the company. Yung ginagawa ko ngayon is basically the same work my supervisors are doing. Over the years, parang title and salary lang ang magbabago, but the actual work stays the same.
I previously took the exam for CATS Batch 19 but unfortunately didn’t make it that time, and during that period wala pa akong work. Ngayon naman that I’m finally being considered for Batch 21, saka naman ako naguguluhan if it’s still worth pursuing.
Most of my seniors are encouraging me to go for it. They said na once-in-a-lifetime opportunity daw yung ma-consider for CATS training, especially habang bata pa. They also mentioned that jobs like my current one can still be found elsewhere, but getting into CATS training is much rarer.
Even my mom told me na okay lang mag-resign and pursue the training if it would help build a better career for me in the long run. Kaya gusto ko rin sana humingi ng insights from people who are already in the field and especially from CATS graduates themselves — would you say the program and career path are worth it?
