Hi. I’m at a lost.
Last year my site of my company merged with another site - which led to a lot of people moving around. Especially leadership positions as they wanted 1 director (shared leadership) instead of two in many departments. I am also a director and felt like this was coming so I tried to apply to almost 50 positions in the corporation. But I got nothing. I also tried to apply to outside positions as well but was not able to secure a position.
Long story short. Another site twice the size of mine opened for a director position and I was told to apply there. I was hesitant but felt that my job was in jeopardy so I did. Instantly after I applied I regretted it. I told my leadership that I did not want it. I tried to apply for more positions (didn’t get those either). I was told if I don’t accept the position something could happen with my job (layoff). I was offered the position and I accepted. My previous position is now eliminated and I hate my new job.
It’s more work and responsibility that I do not want. I did get a pay raise but I am unhappy. I feel stuck and I’m not sure what I should do next.
