Central Arkansas. Located in a field below a hill. This one is bothering me. Recently moved from KY where I lived for a few years. Lots of beech trees in the eastern Kentucky woods. This reminds me a lot of a beech. Did not think they were common in central Arkansas. Leaves almost look asymmetrical like an elm, but I’ve never seen elm with smooth bark. Sorry I could not get closer pictures. Ignore the lower leaves in the last pic. They are from the vine. Any help would be appreciated!

Central Arkansas. Found on occasionally flooded creek bank

Was walking the woods on my property today and noticed a tree down from the recent storms. Originally thought black gum, but bark is wrong and these leaves are opposite instead of alternate. I’m thinking White Ash now, but these leaves are smooth and not toothed. Bark is saying Ash a the leaf shape is too besides not being toothed. Thoughts?
