I’ve been seeing so many comments and posts on other subreddits lately where people are bashing Yeat for switching to this "mafia style"—or whatever he’s doing on ADL. Everyone is constantly asking for that 2093 or AfterLyfe vibe, but let’s be honest: he isn't switching back to any of that. He’s not touching that old sound unless his career falls off so hard he finally reverts just to get some listens. From my understanding of Yeat, he’s always trying to be different from his previous projects, and honestly, that’s a really good thing. Artists like Ken Carson or Opium in general are fire, but they aren't very versatile and they don't even try to be. It’s cool that they put effort into the one thing they’re good at, but after a while, their songs become kinda stale, you know? You can’t just listen to them forever; you eventually have to switch genres. Yeat is trying to juggle both. He still puts up rage, which is his best, but he’s also trying to be a mainstream artist who’s versatile and isn't just known for one thing. The problem is, he’s just not good at it yet—at least not with the way he’s experimenting. Out of 20 songs on ADL, only 5 or 6 are real good and on loop. The rest sound so artificially engineered; they lack that raw and quirky style Yeat is known for. If he can infuse that energy into what he wants to do with these new beats, everyone will be happy. But I don’t understand why tf he isn't listening to anyone and is just doing his shit with his ears closed. It’s blood-boiling but also good to see that he’s at least trying new shit and evolving to produce versatile music. I really hope he nails this new style or whatever direction he’s pursuing. We’re the ones who were buying his vinyls from the jump and we deserve the trust we lost. We deserve the new Yeat, but we also need the silly one.
