Hi all! I’m currently interested in getting into a teacher’s aide role! For anyone who is a teacher’s aide, some guidance on these questions would be amazing!

For context, I graduated high school in 2024, and from then I started a primary teaching degree in 2025, but by September I decided to withdraw, but I’ve been missing the classroom ever since. The only work experience I have is when I had to do the mandatory work experience for a week in year 10, and I chose to do it at a primary school. All I did was help prepare classroom activities, go around and help the students with their work, and make sure they stayed on task. I loved it! I also have a WWCC.

  1. Do you need to do a certificate in Education Support to be a teacher’s aide? I only ask because I have minimal work experience and I’m curious if it would help be appear more employable

  2. If I was interested in doing cert III while working as a teacher’s aide, how would I go about it? Would I mention it in my resume or is that a discussion once I get a job?

  3. What are the daily tasks you do? What is the job actually like? I feel like the internet is very vague and I haven’t been able to grasp completely what it is teacher’s aides do.

Any help would be amazing! Thank you guys 🫶🏻😊
