Hi everyone,
I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant and was planning a quick impromptu 3–4 day babymoon to Bangkok from India. It’s only a short 3.5 hour flight for us, my doctor says everything looks good and I’m okay to fly. I’ve also been to Bangkok 5–6 times before, so it’s not unfamiliar territory for me, and we’d obviously be careful with precautions, mosquito repellent, avoiding unnecessary exposure etc.
What’s throwing me off is going down the Reddit rabbit hole about Zika virus risks in Thailand during pregnancy. Almost every thread I’ve read has people strongly advising pregnant women not to go, and honestly I had no idea this was even considered a major concern there.
What also felt strange was searching for “Bangkok babymoon” content on Instagram expecting tons of travel recommendations/reels… and finding almost nothing. Not a single pregnant travel creator talking about it. That made me pause too.
So now I genuinely can’t tell — is this a real and significant risk that people take very seriously, or has Reddit amplified it into something scarier than it realistically is?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has:
- travelled to Bangkok/Thailand recently while pregnant
- considered it and decided against it
- spoken to their doctor about it
- has on-ground perspective about how concerned people actually are about Zika there right now
Need honest advice before I book. Thank you!!
