My stepdaughter recently moved out, and I’m redecorating her old room. The rug, wall art, and other decor are items I already had. I’m not sure I like the accent wall and curtains. I think I should go ahead and paint the entire room blue, but need advice on the color/style drapes to use. The futon/couch has to stay, as it’s where my dog hangs out while I work from home (my desk is set up in this room as well). I will also be replacing the light fixture with a rattan hanging fixture or gold light fixture (as soon as I can make up mind on which, and sweet talk my hubby into doing it).

I found this drapery fabric and thought it may look good as drapes against the blue wall. The pattern seems very close to the rug, but I’m concerned about it looking too “busy” or tacky. I could also make throw pillows for the bed and/or couch with the extra fabric. Would this look good, or would it be too busy looking with too many patterns in the room? Should I go with simple solid color drapes, like a linen or beige color instead? Any ideas or recommendations?
