So for the rundown I recently just got a job at Chick-fil-a for boh prep! I'm 18 and recently lost my passport book .. for my I-9 form during orientation I gave HR my birth certificate and an older high school ID; I told HR I had a dmv appointment the next day for my (FIRST) state ID and they said to send them a pic of the post dmv papers and it should work! but ... i realize i just got a reciept for my state ID and it quite literally says cannot be used for identification on it.
I sent it anyways and HR said they'd check back on Monday (5/4) once they're in office to verify, but I'm honestly 90% sure it won't work for the I-9 even though I did as instructed by them. My plan is to use a reciept for a new passport card since there's a rule in the gov website that states a reciept can be taken IF it's a replacement for damaged or lost (not mentioning a reciept for an ORIGINAL document).
I also am gonna take my drivers permit test right before that to get the interim drivers permit paper to use as a secondary ID for my passport (I also just meant to get this over with a while ago) and to my knowledge I believe the website states you can use a learners/instruction permit as a secondary ID.
Now I run into this problem on how you need a reciept of a REPLACED list a,b, or c document - you don't get a different reciept for a "replaced passport" you simply report it lost, THEN file basically as if it's new with the exception of the DS-11 form stating at the bottom you had a previous passport. I'm here to ask will this reciept work for my I-9 form even though it doesn't clearly state it's a "replacement"? If the replacement rule isn't really enforced, will my state id reciept work as the temp 90 day grace period as well? I'm really lost and REALLY want this job; I was given my shoes, uniform, did all the training already, and got a tour as well as my name tag and downloaded all the apps and such - I'm really worried that if this doesn't work out they'd be forced to terminate me.
