Shroudless Tuna - McDonald Spec

Hi everyone, what do yall think of my build? I went for the Tuna case however chose a bezel that didn’t fit the shroud unfortunately so I’m going to rock it shroudless for a little while before I get a new bezel that works. Tried going for an all silver build but the lack of color was kind of a bore to me.

Dealer Says No Software Update Exists for U1454 Despite Mercedes Bulletin

I’m looking for advice from anyone familiar with W166 MLs, Mercedes service bulletins, or ethanol/flex fuel issues.

I have a 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML350 with the factory flex fuel option. After putting E85 in the car, I got a check engine light. I scanned it myself and got code U1454: “Implausible data from ethanol sensor.”

I cleared the code, but it came back after about 40–50 miles of driving.

I then found this Mercedes service bulletin that specifically references this exact issue/code:

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2015/MC-10135573-9999.pdf

According to the bulletin, the remedy is supposedly a software update for the ME control unit.

So I took the car to the dealer expecting them to perform the update. However, after getting the car back, they told me they could not find any software update available for my VIN. Instead, they said they “reset the values” and test drove the car around 10 miles. They told me if the issue comes back, I’ll likely need a new ME control unit quoted at around $2200.

Well… the check engine light came back on again.

What confuses me is:

- Why would Mercedes publish a bulletin saying the fix is a software update if the dealer claims no update exists?

- Could the dealer be missing something, or is the bulletin outdated/superseded?

- Has anyone else dealt with U1454 on a flex fuel ML350?

- Is replacing the ME module actually common for this issue?

- If the dealer charged diagnostic fees based on a bulletin fix that apparently doesn’t exist, would I have any grounds to request a refund or escalation with Mercedes corporate?

The dealer said they’re willing to take another look, but I’m worried I’m just going to hear the same answer again.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What watch case should I put my watch face in?

Hi everyone, I’ve recently ordered a Seiko Supercars Limited Edition dial and was curious what case yall think this would look good in? I have an idea of a black silicon strap as well as hands that look like needles in a cars gauge cluster but still unsure what case to put this in.

Dial feet position: 3:80

Intended movement: NH36

Thanks for your input!
