Hello everyone this is my first time posting on reddit ever! I have always lurked on this thread but never posted. ANYWAY. As the title suggests, I really hope that there is a black side character in tempting venom and I feel like the most likely option would be it being one of Marcus' friends/ best friend. Hear me out. We know Marcus lives in Stantonville which is described as a poor town. IDK if it is a necessarily in the hood or if it is a like rural country small town. I just did my reread of beautiful venom to prepare for tempting venom and at one of the vencor parties Dahlia is at, Preston says that Marcus is Dahlia's "thug boyfriend". This makes me think of Stantonville as a hood/ghetto because normally you don't call people from country small towns thug's. Since black people usually make up a majority of the population of hoods most of the time, due to systemic racism and redling, they are bound to be in Stantonville. Ik there was this drama of Rina saying that she won't write black mmc's or fmc's because she doesn't have experience for it, but she has written poc side characters in her books before. I'm pretty sure one of Gareth's law school friends in Kiss the Villain, Zara, was a poc and I've heard about more poc's in other books. So, even if Rina doesn't give the poc side character a book, it would be nice to read about them. Also, I feel like I am writing an argumentative essay for English class LMAO but I literally just thought abt this and I'm mixed so I wanna see more poc rep in books. Also, I am so excited to see how Rina writes Marcus because I'm pretty sure he is going to be the first poor mmc she has (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong bc I haven't read all of her books). I love reading characters that come from nothing and made something of themselves and also billionaire/ millionaire romances can get so boring. The fact that Marcus didn't have the same resources and money as the vipers and still became a top hockey player is so cool and inspiring. I hope he's different bc every mmc in the rinaverse acts like a spoiled brat. I really need Marcus to humble Preston, Jude, kane, and all of vencor tbh bc some lines from them sounded so out of touch and spoiled. I can't wait to read abt Marcus and Preston and I'm so excited. SORRY FOR THE RANT.
