Recently moved to the UK on a Skilled Worker visa and trying to understand what people realistically do to build credit history early on here.

I already had stable income/banking history abroad, but obviously that doesn’t really transfer over.

What actually helped people most?

Phone contracts? Credit builder cards? Specific banks? Just time?

For me it’s been anything related to credit/history.

I moved to the UK recently and realized very quickly that having no local credit history makes a lot of things harder than expected, even if you had strong banking history back home.

Curious what other international students struggled with most after moving countries.

I recently moved to the UK as an international student and I’m confused by how difficult it is to start building credit here from zero.

I have a solid banking and repayment history from back home, but none of it seems to matter in the UK because I don’t have UK credit history yet.

What do most people in this situation actually do?

Are there any good starter cards/accounts for newcomers that genuinely help build credit early on?
