Hi all!
I have had a huge anxiety and fear of flying ever since I started flying as an adult. I spend the whole day of the flight psyching myself up, instead of relaxing as we should do on holiday.
I love planes and I know how a lot of the components work. But take off for me honestly makes my anxiety and fear spike to levels I don’t feel with any other situation. Even the thought of the door closing and the engines turning on can send me spiralling.
This morning me and my partner were driving to the airport for a 3-hour flight for a 7-day holiday abroad. I was in hysterics. I couldn’t stop picturing me freaking out and crying and shaking on take off.
Long story short, we came home and have rescheduled our flight for this Sunday (two days time). After take off I am totally fine once we reach cruising altitude. I don’t even mind turbulence. But the loud noises of take-off and the sensations are what panic me.
Does anyone have any experience in this in terms of the not even being on a plane, but starting to panic and freak out at the thought of it? If so, what helps you guys as I want my journey on Sunday to be as relaxing as possible for not only me but my partner aswell!
