Anyone here who gave the driving test at any RTO in Kolkata between 20th April and today(9th May'26)?

Did you receive the PASS SMS or approval confirmation message from the RTO yet?

Hi everyone,

I need some guidance regarding my old savings account with State Bank of India.

I opened this account in the first quarter of 2016 and used it until January 2018.

After that, I have not used the account at all, so it has been inactive for around 8+ years now.

I am now planning to reactivate it, but before visiting the branch, I want to understand the possible charges and dues.

My concerns:

  1. Since minimum balance rules were applicable before 2019, is there a chance that penalty for non-maintenance has accumulated from 2018 onward?

  2. Will there be any negative balance in the account due to those charges?

  3. Will these charges be auto-debited once I deposit money after reactivation?

  4. Do I need to pay any old debit card annual charges mean to say i have to pay annual charges for 8 years, or only charges for a new card?

5.Is there any chance that SBI may waive old penalties during reactivation at branch level?

Additionally, I found in my old passbook that around ₹100 was deducted at the time of account opening for insurance.

  1. Will there be any charges related to that insurance after reactivation, or is it discontinued automatically?

Also, how much amount should I ideally deposit during reactivation to safely cover any deductions and maintain the required balance?

Would really appreciate if anyone who has reactivated a long-dormant SBI account can share their actual experience, especially from Kolkata metro branches.

Is it possible that total charges (minimum balance penalty, debit card, insurance etc.) can go as high as ₹3000–₹4000?

If yes, is it really worth paying that much just to reactivate an old savings account?

I recently got my bank statement in email, and surprisingly, there is no negative balance or outstanding amount showing in the account statement.I already tried depositing a small amount ( 8 rupees )earlier, and I noticed AMC (debit card charges) got deducted immediately.
