Freshman admitted for Letters and Science & guaranteed admission to the Clark School
Current understanding of Clark School transfer requirements:
- Completion of MATH 141 with minimum grade of B- or better (Satisfied by Calc BC).
- Completion of PHYS 161 with a minimum grade of B- or better (Possibly satisfied by Physics-C).
- Completion of either CHEM 135 or CHEM 271 or CHEM 134 with a minimum grade of C- or better.
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all courses taken at the University of Maryland and all other institutions is required for internal and external transfer students.
Questions:
- If gateways are in progress during Fall 2026, can an application be made during that semester for admittance to the major during the Spring 2027 semester?
- Is the engineering LEP a sure admittance given the gateways are met? I'm familiar with CS being highly restrictive and the Smith School admitting all applicants meeting the gateways and a 3.6 GPA requirement. Some people informed me that Clark has guaranteed admittance given gateways are met, but I've gotten some conflicting information on that front.
- Can first semester freshman request special permission over the summer to take ENES/ENAE classes during the Fall?
