How to fix Output Switching in Wave Link 3.0 (One-click Headphones/Speakers toggle for Stream Deck/Galeon)
Hi everyone,
I recently updated to Wave Link 3.0 and found out that my old "Multi-Action" toggle for switching between headphones and speakers was broken. The new version handles outputs differently (allowing multiple outputs at once), so a simple "Set Output" command often results in sound playing through both devices simultaneously or requires multiple button presses to work.
After some testing, I found a foolproof way to get a perfect one-click toggle using the Multi-Action Switch in the Stream Deck software.
The Problem: Standard "Toggle" or "Set" actions in Wave Link 3.0 sometimes just add a new device to the list of active outputs instead of replacing the current one. This is frustrating when you want a clean switch from your headset to your desk speakers.
The Solution: Instead of a single command, you need to use a Multi-Action Switch with a "Remove/Add" logic for each state.
Step-by-step Setup:
- Create a Multi-Action Switch on your Stream Deck/Galeon.
- State 1 (Switch to Headphones):
- Add Action 1:
Wave Link: Mix Output Device- Type: Set
- Device: Your Speakers
- Mix: Personal Mix
- State: Remove (This forces the speakers to turn off).
- Add Action 2:
Wave Link: Mix Output Device- Type: Set
- Device: Your Headphones
- Mix: Personal Mix
- State: Add (This turns the headphones on).
- Add Action 1:
- State 2 (Switch to Speakers):
- Add Action 1:
Wave Link: Mix Output Device- Type: Set
- Device: Your Headphones
- Mix: Personal Mix
- State: Remove (Forces headphones off).
- Add Action 2:
Wave Link: Mix Output Device- Type: Set
- Device: Your Speakers
- Mix: Personal Mix
- State: Add (Turns speakers on).
- Add Action 1:
Why this works: By explicitly telling Wave Link to Remove the unwanted device and Add the desired one in the same click, you bypass the software's tendency to stack multiple active outputs.
Now, when I rotate my volume knob (mapped to Personal Mix Level), it always controls exactly what I’m hearing, and I never have to deal with "phantom" sound coming from the wrong device.
Hope this helps anyone struggling with the 3.0 update!
There are some screenshots, for your secondary device just make vice-versa.
