Hello everyone!
I just found out that I have keratoconus in both of my eyes back in November of 2025 and after a lengthy fitting process I finally have my first pair! This is day 2 of having them and I have some questions about cleaning and some issues im having while wearing them.
I got a big sheet of information about cleaning and “proper handling” and im curious how strict I need to be about the cleaning steps. Its telling me to clean the lenses with MPS using my fingers to rub off any buildup and debris and then thoroughly rinse them with the saline application solution and then fill and apply. Do I really need to clean them after taking them out of the case and before putting them on? Im mainly curious because ive seen videos of people just taking them out and popping them in and im fairly certain my eye doctor never cleaned them before putting them in each time..
I have them in right now and theyve been in for about an hour or two now, but this whole time I have been dealing with them fogging up and I dont really know what is causing it.. I did some research and of course theres a list of things it could be like excess buildup and debris or a loose fit or an air bubble etc. I dont think its buildup or debris considering I just got them yesterday and have thoroughly cleaned them before applying them as mentioned previously. Im not sure about the fit issues but I re-applied just in case there was an air bubble and im still having the fogging. I feel like it could be from temperature difference but I also feel a little silly thinking its like my windshield fogging up on a rainy day lol. Any ideas?
I have also been dealing with my eyes feeling super cold or almost “menthol-y” with them in today. Again, research, list of possible causes, kinda unsure about what it might really be. Is this one just a matter of adjusting? I have had a past of dry eyes so im thinking they might just be dry but idk. My eyes also are not super red or irritated so I dont think its just a general irritation thing..
Sorry for the long winded post, I just want to be thorough for any of you who want all the details.
