First time cutting hair, EVER. Tips, feedback, or advice?
The first clip is my first time putting a clipper to someone other than myself’s hair, I just did a super low taper and beard trim on my buddy.
Second clip was today, tried a full on mid fade on my coworker and didn’t realize how close I had zero gapped my new clipper before setting my bald line! So it’s a pretty close skin fade for my first actual cut. Should have gotten a before pic of his hair but he had very long hair, down past his nose and it was pretty wild and all over the place. Was intimidating at first but I think I did alright for my first try. After the cut was finished I took a good look and realized the bottom line was still defined a little and so was the line that separates the ridge from the blend. But I did my best.
Third clip is something I did on myself, I’ve been cutting my own hair for the past couple of weeks I’d say, still trying to get the mirror cuts down but it’s alright.
I’m really interested in becoming a barber. I’m 27 years old, I’ve got a job that pays not that great, and I’m the only income in my household plus I’ve got a 2 year old. I really need to find a solid career path soon before I get too complacent where I’m at and decide I’m fine where I’m at, because I’m definitely not!! I’ve always liked fashion/style, and thought I had a pretty good eye for that kind of stuff. I need some advice on how I should go about this, and if it’s worth even pushing for. Some feedback on my cuts would be greatly appreciated and advice from maybe someone that was in my position or similar! And how I should get more people to practice on since it’s kinda hard when you have zero experience.
Thanks in advance!
