Thanks for hope!
First off I want to thank this community for being here. It has so much information, and more so, so much love. It gave my daughter and I hope during a very stressful time. Thank you!
Now the story. If you care.
About 2 months ago we noticed our cat was limping weird on his hind leg. I figured it was an injury from our 2 year old. Like a sprain. Since as he was walking it got better, like it was loosening up. He had struggled to get up on the couch and such. But it never went away and only got worse.
Took him in for a check up and they assumed it was a arthritis (he is a 13 years old and he is a big cat). Gave him the Solensia to help and see if that would work. Did not. Decided that vet was terrible and we took him elsewhere once it got really bad.
Found out it was either bone cancer or bone infection. No way to know except after amputation. Had to go to yet another vet that did amputations to find out our options.
We heard all the bad news about bone cancer and that it was basically a death sentence and/or thousands of dollars and still the same result. I was readying my daughter that we were gonna have to put Zoro down.
However, the vet came in with bright pink dog earrings and pink scrubs. She was so damn optimistic about the success rate and how much different bone cancer is in cats versus dogs. That she was already talking about the aftercare and new life in Zoro. They worked with us and with the local shelter/clinic and got him in surgery in 3 days. The longest 3 days of our lives!
I found this subreddit about 3 legged cats. It gave us hope and a future. We now are getting the stitches taken out on the 12th and Zoro is already adapting well. He is more like himself since the last 3 months. His walk is very different but it's awesome to hear him coming then none at all.
Thanks again!
