I have been a hard core fan since the mid 90s, so that might color my rating. I used a 1 through 5 metric while rating individual songs on each album and then dividing the sum by the number of songs on the album. I did not include Covers. Hopefully my explanation of the way/how I ranked the albums will bypass the filter.
Adrenaline: 3.60 (I heard AtF first. I like this for what it is. So many hints at what they would become.)
Around the Fur: 4.36 (Teenage me was orasiming to this album nonstop. Not literally, but you get it.)
White Pony: 4.00 (I was in the Army and stationed in Kuwait when this came out. A friend mailed me the cassette. Core memories here.)
Deftones: 3.36 (My son was conceived while I had this album on repeat.)
B Sides and Rarities: 2.50 (I remember being Deftones' street team when this came out.)
Saturday Night Wrist: 2.66 (This tour was my first time seeing them live. Tabernacle in Atlanta. I think Dreg opened. Pivitol for me.)
Diamond Eyes: 4.45 (Good god. Who expected this gem as a 6th album? They really captured their signature "beautiful brutality" here.)
Koi No Yokan: 4.63 (I was coming into my true adult self. This is the soundtrack.)
Gore: 3.09 (Yes, the production was a weird choice, but it works during some moments. Third time seeing them. It was in New Orleans. What a magical week.)
Ohms: 3.30 (I'm in my forties. I don't listen to much heavy music, but the 'tones still hit me where it matters. I play The Spell of Mathematics almost every day after work.)
private music: 3.00 (I love the shoegaze direction. I feel I might me getting too old to appreciate this type of music, and I don't like that feeling. What's next?)
I expected Diamond Eyes to rank higher.than Koi No Yokan. I suppose I have been repping the wrong favorite Defitones album!
