gauged up my septum from an 8 to a 6 3 days ago, it's pretty red and slightly swollen, is it infected ? not sure whether or not to take out

Hello! i went to my piercer and we stretched my nose from an 8 to a 6 , 2 days later im having some swelling and tenderness. Is this normal? when should i be concerned? I was at an 8g for about a year and assumed that was enough time between. Does anyone have advice on what to do to help with pain and swelling?
