Spelling Bee gives you seven different letters and asks you to create words that use each of the seven letters and no others. But it doesn't tell you how many right answers there are, meaning people will waste time looking for second and third and fourth answers that don't exist. It also doesn't specify exactly what dictionary it uses, and sometimes arbitrarily declares fairly common words -- a recent example is cannabinol, which is in Webster's New World and other much-used dictionaries -- aren't answers.

I find this hard to understand from what has become a gaming center for millions of people. Attention NYT: Why not just reveal the number of answers to save people from pointless cogitating? Why not pick one dictionary so it's not so mysterious as to what is an acceptable word?

Hard to follow the logic of promoting frustration and confusion.
