We’re trying to catch a mom cat and her kittens who have made their home inside our car to get momma spayed and hopefully find the babies homes.

We caught one kitten about 3 hours ago but the others got spooked by the sound of the trap and haven’t come out since.

My question is: How long can this kitty go without its mama? Is there a point where we should give up and return the kitten to its mom if we can’t catch her?

Some extra details:
- kittens are still nursing but also nibble on the wet kitten food we put out / drink water
- we tried use the first kitten as “bait” for a while but the mom didn’t come out even with the kitten crying loudly so we eventually brought it inside since it’s chilly out
