Flare Up Blues

Last weekend I (28F) had an allergy-induced asthma trigger that ultimately has me abusing my dear friend, Mx. Al Buterol. I feel anxious taking advantage of Al, but I admittedly have run out of my maintenance and can’t afford another doctor’s appointment to get another disk (sad). I was sick with 3 viruses back to back to back in March, ending me in the hospital with flu A and overnight admission with the glorious oxygen/nebulizer combo. Since then, I hadn’t needed anything at all! Until this week. I feel so frustrated, just when things seem to look up I end up flaring. I’m now on day 5 of this flare, taking it easy. I know I likely need the maintenance, but I was so excited to have two months without any sort of wheezing!! Gave me some hope I may be able to have life without the steroid. Anyways, today is all cough no wheeze which I believe to be a recovery state. Walked a mile, recovering from coughing fits without Al, but still concerned. My parents are bringing me the nebulizer I haven’t needed for 16 years, feels like defeat. Anyways, if the hopelessness of asthma flares ever hits you just know you’re not alone! Words of encouragement are welcomed :)
