State Farm offering me 3k for bodily injury after accident, is that low?
About a month ago I got hit in a no fault accident and State Farm is offering around $3,000 for bodily injury so far. The adjuster told me it’s negotiable, but I honestly have no idea what’s considered normal.
My car was also totaled. Insurance basically paid off the finance balance and that was pretty much it, so now I’m left without a car on top of dealing with the injury.
At first the doctor told me it was probably just muscle strain/soft tissue injury, but the pain hasn’t gone away at all. It’s mostly around my upper spine/back area and honestly feels worse now than it did right after the accident.
It’s affecting normal stuff every day now. Getting out of bed hurts, sitting too long hurts, turning/moving my neck and upper body hurts. Sometimes the pain feels like it radiates or like a nerve is pinched or something, not just sore muscles.
I’m getting X-rays now and the doctor said if they see something concerning they might send me for an MRI after.
The car that hit me was a commercial vehicle too, not sure if that changes anything claim-wise.
I haven’t accepted anything because I’m worried about settling too early and then finding out later that something is actually wrong. For people who’ve been through this before, does 3k sound low? And what should I be doing/not doing right now?
