Hi everyone,
I just got off the ucla waitlist as a 1st yr this morning. I am conflicted on where to go tho. I‘m majoring in business economics for both schools on a pre-law track to hopefully work in corporate law.
UCSD:
Pros
- I got into 8th (its a lot newer, cleaner, n has beautiful dorms) + I already toured the campus
- Bus econ major is not impacted & less competitive
- I have friends here
- Tuition is low
Cons
- ”socially dead”
- harder to get internships
- guaranteed housing only for 2 years
- not as prestigious as la which is making me second guess if I want to go here
UCLA
Pros
- Prestigious + ik a lot of alumni who are willing to help
- Connections in la (especially for internships)
- Recognized as a STEM major
- guaranteed housing for all 4 yrs
Cons
- the dorms r ugly n outdated
- the curve for bus econ is rough ~15-25% (typically its 25-40% for other majors)
- weeder classes (3 of which I need B+/As to be admitted into BE - if I dont I get put into regular econ)
- impacted + competitive major
- have not received financial aid yet
I have a 4.0 uw gpa, yet academics wise I’m scared of getting a low gpa esp for law school. My counselor was encouraging me that bcs I got into la I’m able to get a high gpa but college is diff than hs
