Hey Everyone!

I built the Battlechron web app as a side project and just launched it in beta yesterday, so I wanted to get a community's thoughts on it. And make it known!

It's free, works with any game system (there are a lot of games and if you don't see one you play let me know I can add easily), and has three main modes of logging a match:

Verified Games — log a game against an opponent who confirms the result within 72 hours. Results feed live ELO ratings and leaderboards, broken out by game system. Meant for games with matched play options (of course). Phone verification keeps throwaway accounts out of the rankings.

Private Campaigns — run a narrative arc with your group on a hex map (option to keep hexes off, if you want just a reference map). Territory hexes shift with your wins and losses. Optionally submit your campaign to feed into the global rankings (though you have to submit request to admin so we can confirm you are playing matched play games but narratively).

Casual Games — just log it and write the story. No verification. Maybe you just want to track games.

Every game can have a narrative dispatch… a short write-up that shows up in the community War Feed. Opt to skip the narrative dispatch section and they won't appear on the War Feed.

Some of the last things I added were a looking-for-game board, tournament tools, and a work in progress 40K calculator for shoot/fight outcomes.

It's just launched and I'd love people to give me thoughts.

There are a few features that say they are unlocked with Patreon support:

  • Ability to upload images for your Campaign Map (default lets you add a link to a public image to render)
  • Ability to use manual hex placement for Campaign Maps
  • Ability to upload 5 images when logging a game (default is 1)

However, if you're keen to try the web app and want access to these features, just DM me here with your username on Battlechron and I will grant the supporter tier. They are mostly features that need to store images on the database and will add up over time. I am not worried about that right now.

Lastly, things will look mighty blank right now. Yesterday I just spun up my production server and played one game with a friend to celebrate and log a match, but I wanted to make a note of this fact in hopes the emptiness doesn't deter people.

battlechron.com (as per rule 5 of this subreddit, I want to explain that this link is for/to the web app described above)
