I’ve been an eBay seller ever since they first opened and I average over 4000 to 5000 listings. I don’t give anything away and everything is top price with nothing under $25 but items as high as 160,000. I sell literally everything you could imagine and I’ve noticed a huge trend over the past couple months with returns. It seems as though with the economy so far south people still have the desire to spend but then when it comes to checking their bank balance, they decided they want to make a return and just this week I’ve probably done five or six returns even though of course I’ve got a no return policy that eBay does not respect or honor.
I’m literally fed up if a seller says no returns. eBay needs to honor the fact that the seller specifies no returns. It’s different for different situations, but especially when you are selling consignment and when you sell someone’s item for them on eBay and you pay them for the item, you can’t go back to them two weeks later and say that oh the buyer decided to tamper with the item and steal some electronics out of it and now you have to give me the money back because eBay is forcing me to do a return. It completely eliminates your ability to sell consignment.
I really believe it’s time that a lot of sellers get together and form a union or an association and approach eBay corporate and sit down and have meetings with the shareholders association. I think we should tell the shareholder association that we are having major issues with eBay leadership and we should be able to demand things such as the ability to have a “no return policy”
Anybody that makes a return with me I will immediately block them, and I will never allow them to ever buy for me again, but it’s just crazy because it forces us to pay the shipping both ways for absolutely nothing. One customer returned an ipod a couple weeks ago because he didn’t think it worked and I wasn’t even notified that he was doing the return. I wasn’t even able to talk with him and explain to him that his charging cable was bad. I just got the iPod back and had to refund him and then when I told him about the cord, he begged me to send it back, but eBay had already reimbursed the money to him. When I went to relist the item I’m the one that got burned on the first sale and the double shipping. Another guy returned a computer circuit board from the 1980s because it wouldn’t boot and it needed the bios update updated. This would’ve happened with any board he ever bought from this era. Once again, I was not even notified by eBay about the return and now I’m getting burned for the shipping again without ever getting a chance to explain to him that he would have to update the bios. He said he would take it back, but he wanted to play with the bios and then if he couldn’t figure it out, he wanted to return it again and I told him absolutely not.
I get people that return things just to steal parts off of something or swap it out with their own stuff, a girl returned a Louis Vuitton purse but instead shipped me a really cheap $10 purse. eBay did not do anything to her. She’s still buying and scamming from other people. I want an option as a seller to be able to block every single person that has ever made a return or has ever been accused of scamming a seller. If eBay can’t do this for us and if we can’t organize and get eBay’s attention to start helping the sellers, I need to find a new platform ASAP. I’m ready to literally close my entire eBay account. I am so mad.
All the website glitches right now are so frustrating. For all of the money that they charge us they should at least be able to keep a functioning website.
We absolutely need to form an association for us sellers right now meetings with the eBay shareholders The eBay shareholders will be able to tell eBay corporate how to run a business. The eBay shareholders are getting burned the most because of all the lost revenue that the corporation is costing them.
One other example,
I have lost literally thousands of dollars in sales because the same account cannot re-purchase another item from me immediately after buying one item so I have lost sale after sale after sale documented and spoke with eBay many times about this they told me that in my settings, my settings had previously been set up like this and due to the previous settings it has created a glitch in my account to where now all of my items are still affected. Sure they sent it off to technical support several times and I wasted hours and hours on the phone with them. But I’ve got over 4000 listings. Do I cancel my entire account and start over or do I just find a new platform that actually values sellers
