Maintaining an aging mk7
2016 GTI S 6 speed - bone stock - owner since new. 85k miles.
Had the cam shaft seals/magnets job done at 80k because of leaking, had to do lower control arm bushings, and just got it back from a slave cylinder failure and of course clutch and flywheel that goes along with that. Had the water pump and thermostat housing done ages ago. Some of these bigger jobs have been scary and expensive, but dammit I love driving him!
I know timing chain is coming eventually. To steal someone else’s line, he creaks like a right old bastard sometimes; has anyone done bushings? What else to expect? Oil changes happen much more frequently now to make sure there is always plenty of fresh clean lube in there…
