My Mother Is Abusing My Father nd Keeping Me Out Of His Life, Despite His Wishes. And The Police Won't Help.
My mother (63) has been abusing my father (73) for a while now. She emotionally abuses him (screaming and degradation), controls where he is allowed to go and who he is allowed to speak to, has stripped away any financial control he has for himself, and may also be suffering physical abuse (I've seen him with a black eye on His right side of his face, which would indicate a left-handed blow, and my mother is exclusively left-handed). Wen I tell him that's he's being abused, he replies with "I've been dong this for 40 years".
I have talked t numerous elder abuse hotlines, most of which just told me to call the non-emergency line. I called once, had an officer come by and give me a list of resources. called on them, no results, just back to the non-emergency line. The second officer? I explain the situation to him same as the first one, he comes back to me after he visited my parents (I explicitly told him that no one was in imminent danger and that no visitations were required). He comes back a few hours later with criminal harassment warning papers saying that neither my mother nor father wanted communication with me. I've been in regular contact with my father since and in response to the police warning, he said quote "fuck them".
He still wants to maintain contact with me, but my mother won't allow it, and the police ae on her side. I'm still worried about him and his future, but don't know where to go to. I've tried every hotline I can go to. Where else do I go?
