I am a 2025 grad who is fully licensed with no residency. My current plan would be to work retail for 1,500 hours so I can transfer my license, I found out last month that my boyfriend matched to a surgery residency out of state. I am in a very fortunate financial situation where I graduated with no debt and substantial savings thanks to my family and scholarships, but I was asked to stay at home until my late grandfather passed earlier this year.

I have some international trips planned for mid May - early June. Should I start applying for jobs now? Is the onboarding process for traditional chain retail pretty fast? Will I get looked at negatively if I ask for a start date in mid June? I would like to complete my hours as soon as possible, but is it better wait since I am not in financial need?
