Hey All. I am seriously toying with the idea of making a sound generator for the SE. I came from a miata, and man... the miata isn't fast, but it sure sounded like it was, hitting high RPMs and whatnot. The Mini, while capable, definitely lacks in the 'theatre' department relative to the Miata. No surprises there.
I have been looking at building a CAN-BUS sniffer (probably arduino or raspberry pi based), and mapping Throttle Position, Power, and Wheel Speed to a tone map that would play (most likely) through a speaker installed in the pedal box.
Has anyone done this? With the SE being electric instead of ICE, I don't actually know what CAN-BUS PIDs are available to 'sniff'.

To clarify as to why: while I wouldn't classify myself as a motorhead, driving is an emotional connection for me. And there isn't much emotional connection when the car doesn't talk back. It just compliantly does what it's told without any fuss (see my other thread about improved steering...). I want to drive the car, not just instruct the car. And it talking back (e.g. with engine noise) - while synthetic, yes - is better than silence IMO. If that's not your thing, that's not your thing. But every time I hear another car (e.g. Civic Type R, Subi WRX, Miata) with even a stock exhaust... man, it moves me.
