Why is Australia more popular than NZ?((AU vs NZ vs Canada)considering teaching

Hi everyone,

I’m a 21yo student from korea. I’ve taken a leave of absence from my Computer Science degree because I realized my true passion is in Mathematics and Education. My ultimate goal is to become a Math teacher at an international school.

I’m currently debating between Australia, New Zealand, and Canada for my Bachelor of Education. I have a few specific questions and I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience in these countries:

1. Why is Australia the "default" choice over NZ? It seems like everyone goes to Australia. Is the education system actually "better," or is it just better marketing? what is the difference?

2. The Economic Aspect (Tuition vs. ROI) I’m looking for the most cost-effective path. Australia has higher wages, but the tuition and cost of living in big cities are insane. Is NZ significantly cheaper in terms of total investment? And how does Canada compare to these two for a non-native English speaker?

3. Lifestyle Fit (Minimalist vs. Party Culture) I’ve noticed a lot of study abroad content focuses on nightlife, big events, and "the experience." Honestly, I don't care about parties. I just need:

  • A good library
  • A supermarket nearby
  • A park or a beach to walk in
  • Maybe a cinema once in a while I prefer a quiet, studious environment over a "vibrant" social scene. Which country or specific city would suit a minimalist/introvert better?

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the pressure of the financial burden on my parents, so I want to make the most logical choice. Any "real" advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Australia and I’m really keen to dive into the local working culture and improve my English.

Instead of a permanent role, I’m specifically looking for one-day gigs or very short-term casual work (1-7 days). I’m interested in things like event staffing, catering, promotional work, or even general helping hands.

I’ve checked Seek and Indeed, but they don't seem to have a filter for "one-off" or "day-to-day" shifts, which makes it hard to find these types of jobs.

A few questions for the locals:

  1. What are the best apps or agencies for finding these "one-day" shifts? (I’ve heard of Sidekicker, but are there others?)
  2. Are there specific agencies that hire for major events in Melbourne?

I’m not looking for a long-term commitment right now, just looking to gain some experience and meet new people. Any suggestions or tips for a newcomer would be greatly appreciated!
