Puzzles

I’ve only DM’d two campaigns so far, and they’ve both have been closer to west march type campaigns than actual story driven ones or dungeon dives. The players of my current campaign are about to explore this temple in the astral plane. I already have a dungeon layout in mind, but I want to add some puzzles to get my players thinking. The only problem is, I’m horrible at thinking of them. Anyone got any interesting puzzle ideas I can use?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE’S ONLY FORTY?!

From the way he was acting in the actual series I would’ve thought he’d be sixty at the very least. Then again, his species might age faster than regular humans.

Hello everyone,

My player’s are currently helping an npc out with killing a hag, and they’ve been doing this for about two sessions as of now. One of my friends, who’s a player in this campaign asked for a homebrew magic item which is just a bag of holding but as a hermit crab. I agreed because it isn’t too egregious, but that reminded me that I haven’t really been giving out magic items during the campaign. Which kinda sucks for my players because all except two are playing martial classes. Now, the hag they’re trying to find is known to sell magical items to people, so what’s a good couple of magic items to give to a level six party?

Hello everyone,

I’m a new DM and I’ve DM’d two campaigns. The first one I’ve ever DM’d, one of my buddies was obsessed with dismembering enemies in battle to make them weaker, and he would pretty much do it every fight they got into. I didn’t know if there were any rules about this, so I just said if the attack hit he automatically dismembers the opponent. But that got annoying because I’d have to like cut movement speed whenever he would cut off a leg or give them the blind condition when he’d go for the eyes.

I’m now DMing my second campaign and the buddy from before is going back to his old shenanigans again. Now I’m still comprehending all the 5e rules myself, so are there any rules in the official books about dismembering or mutilation. If not, how can I make dismembering more difficult without just directly telling my friend he can’t do it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
