I don't think any of us expected to be down 3-1 to the 8th seed, even if the Magic are better than their record makes them look, but here we are...

I fully expect Orlando to win this series in 6 games, but even if the Pistons somehow do win in 7, there's an outside chance at best that they make it out of the second round. No shooting or a true secondary creator just isn't going to cut it.

As much as it sucks that our team has been so thoroughly exposed in the first round, I feel like this is good data going into the offseason. The team's weaknesses are very, very clear now and there are some real moves that can be made to address these weaknesses. It's also fortunate that the Pistons can actually make these moves because of the significant flexibility they have with cap space, expiring contracts, and tradable picks. Also, this is still a young team. This is much better than a team of older players that's hit its ceiling and has no maneuverability, like the 2019 Pistons.

There is a path forward and we now have a better idea of what that path looks like. What matters now is what the front office does to address the team's issues. So far, the FO under Trajan has mostly made good moves. It'd be different if the Pistons were under incompetent management, but so far that hasn't been the case.

Best to enjoy the remainder of this series with your expectations reset.
