Following the British Empire declaring us an enemy, we are hereby declaring war!

Rio de Janeiro, January 1865 — The Imperial Government of Brazil is proud to announce the conclusion of a historic treaty with Costa Rica establishing the Costa Rican Interoceanic Canal Trade Charter, an ambitious undertaking that will unite the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and reshape the course of world commerce. Supported by Brazilian capital, engineering expertise, and industrial machinery, and undertaken in close cooperation with Spain, this project represents one of the most significant works of infrastructure yet conceived in the modern age.

Under the terms of the Charter, Brazil will provide substantial financial backing together with heavy steam-powered excavation equipment, railway systems, engineers, and skilled technicians to assist in the construction of the canal and its associated infrastructure. In recognition of this commitment, Costa Rica has granted Brazil sovereign control over designated lands at the Pacific terminus of the canal. These territories will be developed into a modern deep-water port, naval dockyard, coaling station, bonded warehouses, customs and tolling offices, and supporting settlements capable of serving both international trade and the Imperial Brazilian Navy.

The treaty further establishes a formal alliance between Brazil and Costa Rica, guaranteeing mutual defence and the permanent protection of the canal against any threat to its security or neutrality. A broad commercial agreement accompanies the Charter, opening new markets for Costa Rican exports including bananas, sugar, tobacco, hardwoods, and other agricultural goods, while Brazil will supply industrial machinery, steel, manufactured products, modern firearms, and investment capital. Together, these measures will accelerate the economic development of Costa Rica and strengthen the prosperity of both nations.

When completed, the canal will stand among the greatest engineering achievements of the nineteenth century. Merchant vessels will no longer be compelled to undertake the long and perilous voyage around Cape Horn, but will instead pass swiftly and safely between the world’s two great oceans. The governments of Brazil and Costa Rica declare that this waterway will be open to the commerce of all nations on equal terms, subject to reasonable tolls and regulations, ensuring that its benefits are shared by the entire civilised world.

This treaty is being put on hold while Brazilian authorities investigate claims of children being made into suicide bombers and child soldiers and the threats of Russian citizens being executed

The Empire of Brazil and Spain formally ratify a comprehensive trade, industrial, and strategic cooperation agreement intended to strengthen economic ties, accelerate industrial development, and reinforce maritime security between the two powers. Under the terms of the accord, Spain agrees to supply Brazil with high-quality steel, copper, precision machining tools, olives, olive oil, and technical assistance in the reconstruction and modernisation of the Brazilian Navy. In return, Brazil will provide Spain with modern bolt-action rifles and metallic cartridge ammunition, alongside strategic materials and exports including rubber, manganese, tin, nitrates, silver, iron ore, coffee, cocoa, hardwood timber, and other tropical produce sourced throughout the Empire.

Both nations further reaffirm their existing strategic military alliance, pledging continued cooperation in matters of mutual defence, naval coordination, and international security.

In addition to commercial exchange, Brazil and Spain agree to expand collaboration in naval engineering, industrial manufacturing, and emerging electrical technologies, building upon their existing research partnership. Joint dockyard consultation, engineering exchanges, and coordinated merchant access between Atlantic and Pacific trade routes are to be encouraged under the treaty, with both governments recognising the agreement as the foundation of a long-term strategic partnership between Brazil and Spain.

The Empire of Brazil, under Dom Pedro II, formalises a strategic trade and cooperation agreement with the Russian Empire, focused on industrial growth, military modernisation, and global logistics. Russia will supply advanced mechanical and industrial systems, including agricultural machinery, experimental transport technologies, and difference engines, alongside critical raw materials such as coal, iron, and manganese, with grain exports available as required. In return, Brazil will export modern breech-loading bolt action rifles and metallic cartridge ammunition, supported by reliable shipments of cocoa, coffee, timber, and other specialised Brazilian goods.

To reinforce long-range operational capability, both empires grant one another priority coaling, resupply, and docking rights: Brazilian vessels will have access to Russian Pacific ports, including Vladivostok, while Russian vessels will receive equivalent access to Brazil’s Pacific naval facilities at Antofagasta. These rights are limited to naval and logistical support and do not extend to permanent basing, ensuring mutual benefit without compromising sovereignty.
