Hey there I’m a cutter for a hotshot crew located in California and mostly cut snags or dying trees. I’ve noticed in my stump shots, a lot of the times in pines or firs, there is a bluish or blackish squiggly line that enters from the bark and into the heartwood area. Especially in wood that is still really wet (tree probably died within the last 5-6 years). I’m familiar with spalting but it just doesn’t seem likely. I wish I had a photo of it but can’t seem to find one. Does anyone know what i would be looking at? Thanks
