I recently had sewage come into my yard from my neighbour’s house. I am in JHB and I am glad to say Joburg Water responded quickly.
The sewage got into my garden soil and my vegetable garden. Now I am wondering how I can treat the area as I have never experienced this before.

I am looking for some input from anyone who self-manages their rentals (no agent/s please).
I have been lucky enough to start growing my portfolio (still in single digits) but even at 1 rental the monthly admin adds up and takes a bit of time, not a lot but I imagine it will start becoming ridiculous as the portolio grows.
I am wondering how other self-managing landlords are handling things like:
- Creating and sending invoices / chasing late rent
- Tracking what's been paid vs not
- Maintenance requests from tenants
- Recordkeeping for SARS at year-end
- Tracking profitability etc.
Are you using spreadsheets, WhatsApp, paper, something fancier? I am wondering if I'm doing it the hard way or if everyone's stuck in the same boat.
