Things I can remember - female main character, some kind of magical powers, possibly a detective or similar. her brother? Finds a dead body in the garden at a party he is at, the body is a female orc/goblin/troll who was working as a guard or mercenary at the event. the male love interest is that characters leader and their primary occupation is mercenary work. Notably this species tends to have asymmetric limbs, so often one larger or more muscular arm, although on the love interest it's not super noticeable.
I believe there are more murders, and I remember scenes where the goblin? King/leader helps her out, has dinner with her family etc. I think her magic has something to do with being able to see or feel the last few minutes of someone's life. I believe the murders end up being committed in part by a socialite type and someone else who might have been the first victims uncle or relation, but that could be a mix up with other books I've read, and similarly I *think* the main character might be called Nix but that's a lot more vague.
