Hi everyone,

I’m a 26-year-old male IT Engineer from Taiwan, currently working for a US-based semiconductor company. I’m looking to change my English name because "Eric" is just way too common in Asian business settings—there are way too many Erics in my last company alone!

I have 2 supervisors, one is Chinese and the other British. Mandarin speakers have a tendency to butcher English names especially with the "th" sound.

All my other colleagues are Taiwanese mandarin speakers.

I’m looking for something that fits the following criteria:

  • (Optional)Starts with "R" or "E": I want to keep the initial consistent with my personal branding.
  • (Optional)German origin: I'm just really interested in German. So I’m leaning towards something that sounds good with it, perhaps with a subtle Germanic or European feel.(Reiner?)
  • Short and sharp: so people could quickly call my name in Microsoft Teams and meetings.
  • Professional & Uncommon: I want to stand out in a corporate environment (especially in tech/engineering), but I want to avoid names that are too eccentric.
  • Easy to pronounce: My direct managers are in China, so the name needs to be easily pronounceable for non-native speakers (no complex clusters like "Roderick" or "Rurik"), no more than 2 syllables.

Any suggestions is welcome. Thanks.
