Would you want to live with people who had pets, but you weren’t allowed pets?
Hello, I am moving into a family owned home with my boyfriend. We are very lucky for this opportunity. It is a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath, new build house and we are going to be in the master and using a second bedroom as an office because we are both students.
However, I am very nervous about trying to find a roommate. They would have their own private bathroom and bedroom and of course shared access with the rest of the home. It is in a nice area right near a freeway so good for students or traveling nurses and such. Things like a garage, back yard.. it’s a nice house.
However.. we have two big downsides. My boyfriend and I have two cats and my family member is insisting that there be no more animals in the house, even tank animals. I feel like it would be a pretty hard sell to essentially say “Hey, we’ve got pets, but you can’t have any!”
My boyfriend is also a musician. He is in school for music and will need to practice. I’m also a student (law) and we have established rules about quiet hours (7-8pm and it’s all off) but I am very afraid that this is going to be a hard sell for, say, another student who wants to study in the evenings in peace, or a nurse working night shift..
The home is in Central California in a university town. We are going to be charging 800-900 utilities included (still deciding based off of HOA fees and stuff) which is good for the area. My question is, would you (or anyone you know) actually want to live with us? Other than the musician part, we’re generally quiet people. No alcohol, smoking, drugs, or partying aside from a board game night or something. I just need some reassurance! Or a reality check.
