This is the cover art for Yo La Tengo’s ninth album And Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out. At first glance it appears to be a photo of some cosy nook of American suburbia. Of particular interest however is what’s happening almost out of frame on the bottom right edge of the image. Is someone being spot-lit by a helicopter? Is it the beginning stages of an alien abduction? The ambiguity is something I love about this image.
