When did people forget the difference between loose and lose?

I've noticed on what feels like every post I see when people talk about losing their car keys or something, I keep seeing people say "I loose my car keys" or "I'm loosing my car keys".

I'm not the grammar police by any means but this just feels so obvious and glaring to me.

Edit for additional clarity: this is absolutely not directed at anyone who is learning to speak english or is their second language. English is pretty fast and loose with it's own set of rules. I'm seeing this from people I know to be native speakers.
