I’m looking at filing Chapter 7 in 11 months.

My residency was CA 5/2/24-4/30/25, TX 5/2-10/15/25, CA 10/15-11/15 25, WA 11/16/25 - filing date.

My understanding is that I file in WA, but the exemptions used are CA based due to the look back period. Since I will not have lived in a single state over the past two years, I believe under 11 U.S.C. § 522(b)(3)(A) you look back to the 180 days prior to the last two years, which would be CA. It is easy for me to prove this CA residency.

How hard is it to file a chapter 7 in thsee circumstances? I assume I’d need a lawyer since this is complicated. The means test is black and white (not an issue).
