Granted I am new to this subreddit but I am having trouble understanding how I (or anyone) would give valuable feedback on someone's music or lyrics without understanding what their goals are with the song. What I mean is, if your plan is to develop a commercially successful country song then the feedback would be way different than if you are writing a heartfelt song for your girlfriend or to play at your mother's funeral.

Also helpful would be to know the authors experience level in song writing. If you've been doing this for 15 years and you still are not making tight lines, clear emotion, clear story telling with a decent hook then you should be expecting pretty critical feedback, that's probably what you need at that point as you've gone this long and no one has given it to you yet. If its your first or second try at song writing then the feedback should offer more guidance toward figuring out what makes/does not make a good song.

So my point is that if you want useful, actionable feedback then you should include in the message where you are coming from and where it is that you hope to go.

Just a suggestion from a very green member.
