I’ve just been accepted into a RN grad program in WA for a February 2027 start, which I’m really excited about.
I’ve been looking into leave entitlements and saw that the hospital specifically mentions “support for two weeks annual leave per rotation,” but I’m not sure how flexible this is, especially early in the program.
I already have a Europe trip booked for 2 weeks in mid-April 27’ for personal reasons, but because of the travel distance and timing, I was considering extending the trip to make it around 5–6 weeks total.
I’m hoping to bring this up with the hospital as early as possible, but just wanted to see if anyone who has done a grad program has experience with taking leave during the first rotation, or at all-especially for a longer period of time.
It might sound silly, but Is this something that could potentially be approved, or would it likely need to be leave without pay / not be possible during a grad program?
