Car accident
Hello everyone. I have recently been in an accident on the highway. Here is what happened, I was in the left lane going 55-65mph around there, car infront of me slammed their brakes and my first immediate reaction was to switch onto the right lane. Turns out in that left lane there was a standstill car. Unfortunately I rear ended them, totaling both of our cars. There were no signs of stopped cars ahead in the right lane and this highway is pretty narrow. The reason as to why they were stopped is because a motorcycle broke down and their group of friends were trying to half traffic on the right lane, hence why the car I rear ended was stopped completely. Unfortunately with the car I rear ended, the passenger was injured and was escorted by the ambulance to the er and I have now been notified by my insurance that she has a significant injury. It could be anything of course but she is alive and stable thank the lord🙏. Now all I have been doing since is just replaying the accident in my head and wishing I could’ve done many things to prevent the accident, even wishing that I was the one hurt over anyone else. I have been overwhelmed with guilt and on top of that I am now worried that I will get sued to oblivion and be ruined financially for a while, as I am a 20 year old with no real income, no assets nothing. I am under my mothers insurance police and she is the co owner of the vehicle I was in and I am trying to do everything I can to reassure her as she is extremely worried, stressed, and upset. I know I will get a lot of backlash for this, but my insurance’s policy limits are 25/50/25. Is there any advice for what I am going through right now?
