Hello!

I bought a Google TV streamer 4k to replace the old and slow built in smart feature in my TV. I have it connected to a Yamaha receiver and soon discovered that Netflix only outputs stereo in my surround system.

When I look at the display in my Yamaha it says Dolby Digital+ and shows as 5.1, but only outputs sound in left and right front channels.

The Disney plus app also shows Dolby Digital+ in the display but outputs full 5.1 as it should. Other streaming apps also outputs surround.

I have the output format set to automatic in the streamer. I've tried changing it to both DD+ and regular DD without any difference for the sound in Netflix.

Fun thing is that in the Display & sound settings there is "audio options" where I can set the above mentioned output format together with a few other settings. The next and last line in the sound settings menu is "surround sound settings" but if I press down to reach that, I get thrown back to the main screen of the device. So I can't access the surround sound settings at all.

if I put an old Chromecast 3 in the receiver and stream from the Netflix app in my phone, it outputs DD+ in full surround 🤯

So...the problem has to be in the streamer or the Netflix app on the streamer, or a combination of both. I've googled myself mad on this but I haven't had any luck finding a solution or even someone else having the problem.

Any help appreciated!
