after offering my cats treats after playing with them over a couple months, one of my cats now plays for maybe 2 minutes before he runs into the kitchen and meows for treats. even when i get him to come back and play some more, he stops early and goes for treats.

are his toys just no longer attractive? he used to play for a lot longer before, i dont know how to get him back into it.

tl;dr my cat just got an exercise wheel but he wont use it unless motivated by food. wand toys dont help, he wont step on it by himself either.

edit 1: guys my vet said hes 1kg over his ideal weight, he should be 5.5kg. hes a fairly big cat but his weight has caused problems before so we need to manage it

ginger is a fat neutered 6yo (6.7kg), has had gallblader stones before, so hes gonna go on a diet soon. he regained the weight hed lost because we started his sister on a hypoallergenic diet thats way more calorie dense.

before i can switch his food (im still looking for an option that fit both his and her needs, because they refuse to eat separatedly) im trying to raise his activity level.
